Event: Lifeboat Weekendin aid of the R.N.L.I.

Keeping Clovelly's lifeboat on alert for emergencies round the clock takes effort and dedication. Held in aid of the RNLI, it is a popular celebration of the Clovelly Lifeboat, Spirit of Clovelly. The Lifeboat House will be open both days to the public.
There'll be a sponsored swim from Bucks Mills to Clovelly on Saturday and lots of contests on Sunday including a cross dressing-up race, tug-of-war and the ever popular slave auction in which young local men are 'sold' to the highest bidder to do their chores for the day. Also lots of local harbour stalls.

In the West Country we are proud of our long tradition of racing pilot gigs. The sport's popularity is hardly suprising - gig racing today is exciting, strenuous and often downright dangerous, with crews reaching top speeds of 9 knots in fast-flowing tidal waters. So come along and cheer on the rowers. It will be an exhilarating day's racing.

At approximately 4 p.m. on Sunday, 29th August you could be lucky enough to witness a host of intrepid cyclists rattling down the cobbles of Clovelly.
This new endurance cycling challenge, in aid of Prostate Cancer Charity and 'Caravan', the National Grocers Benevolent fund, will be circumnavigating the entire coastline of Britain from 3rd July until 4th September.
This particular leg of the journey from Selworthy, North Somerset to Clovelly, North Devon will be one of the most arduous; 56 miles, with two valleys to negotiate on Exmoor, arriving at Clovelly at approximately 4 p.m. Subject to weather, the most resolute of the cyclists will finish this gruelling day's journey with an off-road cycle along Clovelly's Hobby Drive followed by a bone-shaking ride down our cobbles to the harbour, where they will be welcomed by Clovelly's owner, The Hon. John Rous.
After camping overnight at Clovelly, they set off on their next leg to Padstow the following morning at about 9 a.m..

Event: Lobster and Crab Feast in support of the National Lobster Hatchery.

We pay tribute to Clovelly's famous lobsters and crabs with a day of live folk music, a lobster hypnotist, quay kitchen, wine and beer tasting, local food stalls, prize draw, arts and crafts stalls, live exhibits, photographic exhibition and entertainment for the children too.
The N. Devon A.O.N.B. will provide event themed, free craft activities.
The Red Lion Harbour bar will be offering delicious seafood, crab and lobster platters, each with a complimentary glass of champagne, for £14.95.

Event: Clovelly Herring Festival Date: Sunday, 21 November Time: From 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Location: Clovelly Harbour Normal admission charges apply.
In the 18th century, a hundred boats fished for herring out of Clovelly. This festival is held in support of sustainable fishing and to celebrate the herring, the Silver Darlings of the sea.
There'll be herring specialities, wine and cider, traditional shanty singers, street entertainment. Jim MacCool, founder of National Poetry Month, will perform his show of infectious verse and toe-tapping Celtic rhythms.
Mike Smylie will return with his 'Kipperland' exhibition and smoking delicious kippers and bloaters and there will be net making, flax processing, knitting and a curragh on show, plus masses of stalls. The N. Devon A.O.N.B. will provide event themed, free craft activities.

Clovelly is magical to visit at any time but Christmas is truly special so don't miss this fund-raising event in aid of the RNLI that everyone in the village looks forward to - the switching on of the Christmas lights.
A brass band leads the procession down to the harbour. Then there's mulled wine, a barbecue, Christmas carols and Father Christmas makes a surprise visit. At 5 pm the switch is thrown and suddenly the entire village and harbour are lit up.
It's a fantastic sight and there is a grand finale of fireworks to finish off.

Twenty fudge stones, like this one, will be hidden along the main street of the village every day during Easter week and each one is a winner!
They are numbered underneath and if you find Fudge Stone No. 20, you win a whole kilo of yummy Clovelly fudge in eight different flavours.

Join us at our special Celebration of Ales and Ciders, where you can enjoy a range of local brews. These unique local ales and ciders are not industrially manufactured, but created with passion by small North Devon breweries.
And there'll be more ciders on offer this year, given the increasingly popular trend.
Whether you're a committed ale and cider drinker or yet to be convinced, you'll find a tipple to suit your palate. So come along and raise a glass to support North Devon's brewers and cider makers.

West Country pilot gigs were designed to carry pilots out to ships. The first one alongside won the pilotage job. The row from Clovelly to Lundy and back is a true test of endurance over 32 miles of sea - it can take up to four hours, depending upon the weather and tides. So come along and support the brave crews!

The day will be packed with attractions, including Punch & Judy, maritime themed entertainment, great shanty singers, and local stalls.
Enjoy delicious seafood or a succulent spit roast on the quay and delicious, fresh strawberry and cream teas at the New Inn.
Event: Woolsery Agricultural Show, in aid of various charities Date: Monday, 25th July
Location: Clovelly Court
A quintessential English rural show, run entirely on a volunteer basis by local farmers. There are many classes including crafts, cattle and sheep, together with horse and pony competitions.
You'll find trade and exhibition stands and there will also be stalls of locally made craft and food. Children will also be kept entertained with fairground rides and a bouncy castle.
