Two Torridge Businesses Commended at National Awards

1904 Classic Maritime Heritage Oyster Boat “Bessie”

This 1904 classic, maritime heritage, Oyster boat, “BESSIE”, has just arrived at Clovelly . She has been restored by Cockwells Boats, Mylor, for Clovelly Estates.  On completion of the main works at Mylor, she was then sent by road to Instow to have her finished off and launched before she could be sailed to Clovelly on 23rd August last.     It is the ultimate intention that ‘Bessie’ be sailed […]

Teacher, Sadie Davies, is the first woman to swim to Lundy and be returned to Clovelly

24-August Sadie Davies, a teacher, is the first ever woman to complete the 15 mile swim from Hartland to Lundy in under nine hours.  She was raising money for the environmental charity, ‘Surfers Against Sewage’ and was returned to Clovelly. Judging for the 2019 RHS South West Britain in Bloom competition. The weather was glorious, the village looked splendid and the judges seemed to be very pleased with what they saw.
