Staying at Clovelly
Staying at Clovelly is easy as there are many types of accommodation. They offer something for all budgets and styles.
The Red Lion is an AA 4 star Inn and The New Inn is an AA 3 star Inn. They have both been sympathetically restored with quality levels to suit all budgets. For instance, there is a hostel known as Hamlyn’s, opposite the New Inn.
There are also other local B&Bs along the High Street and in Higher Clovelly. In addition, you can choose to dine at a bar or restaurant at the Red Lion, or a bar at the New Inn.
Firstly, the Red Lion, which lies astride the quay, has 11 bedrooms. Because of its age, no two bedrooms are the same. You will find each room individually decorated and comfortably furnished in a style that charmingly reflects the building’s maritime heritage.
All rooms have a spectacular sea or harbour view.
Secondly, the Sail Loft is a recent conversion of an old store adjacent to the Red Lion. It provides 6 very generous, comfortable, stylish bedrooms with wonderful sea views.
Thirdly, the New Inn, which lies in the heart of the village. You will find it a lovely, peaceful inn.
Some of the 8 rooms look out across the roof tops towards Bideford bay and others have balconies. The rooms with balconies look over the High Street, up or down. Hence, you can take in all the sights, tangs from the sea and happenings within the village.
Fourthly, Hamlyn’s B&B lies directly opposite the New Inn. Consequently, it is simple with no frills, but some bedrooms have lovely street views. Because the New Inn manages this accommodation, you can have access to all its facilities.
