Fishing from the harbour wall
Permits are available from the Harbour Master. There are specific limited times, due to the volume of visitors, over the summer. Consequently casting from the quay is such fun as there are all sorts of fish in the bay from sole, John Dory to bass and mackerel. Hence our chefs are always delighted to cook your catch for you if you are staying at one of Clovelly’s lovely inns.
Times and costs:
During the months of May to October inclusive, fishing is permitted from 7pm to 9am. However during the months of November to April, fishing is available at any time.
Costs for a permit is £5 for a night or £20 a year. There is a special parking area for all fishermen and our Harbour Master will explain how to access this when you sort out your permit.
Crabbing is fine at all times from the rockpools and from the harbour wall. However please keep your little ones safe. Nets buckets and crabbing lines are available to buy at the quay shop.
Don’t forget to pop into the Harbour Bar after fishing and tell the locals about “the one that got away”
Clovelly Harbour Master is Stephen Perham. Please contact him by phone or email.
