Shopping in Clovelly is pure retail therapy.  Clovelly Pottery,  Clovelly Silk and Clovelly Soap all have unique and exclusive handmade products. Walking down the village, taking in the shops and the living history of this unique place is a wonderful way to spend a day out.

Donkey Shoe Shop (currently closed)

Inspiration for the Donkey Shoe Shop came from the love of the donkeys who live at Clovelly, and who played a very important part in the history of the village.

A traditional little shop featuring unique items and collectables to remind visitors of an enjoyable day in our beautiful village, or perhaps buy something for friends and family back home.

Visitor Centre Shops

Modelled on a traditional Devon long barn, the award-winning Visitor Centre houses a cafeteria and a number of shops selling quality souvenirs, books and delicious Clovelly fudge.

Clovelly Brewery

The Clovelly Brewery is at the top of the beautiful Clovelly Village next to the visitors centre.

Selling a large range of local Devon beers, ciders and spirits. As well as some local crafts and gifts to take home, and some very nice wine!

The Clovelly Brewery are delighted to stock beers from Clearwater Brewery, GT Ales, Country Life, Utopian, Hanlon’s Brewery and the Combe Brewing Company, as well as various ‘guest’ brewery’s.

Their famous five beers are Pilot Gig – an amber bitter, Top Catch – a refreshing IPA, Crows Nest – a ruby red ale, Black Church – a premium dark ale and C-Horse – a golden light ale.

Clovelly Silk Shop

A textile design and print studio specialising in classic English design.Established in Clovelly in 1995 this family run business is situated next to the donkey stables, just below the Visitor Centre. As well as a range of original designs inspired by Clovelly and North Devon, the shop sells accessories and other textiles sourced from around the world.

Home of Rex Whistler’s Clovelly Toile de Jouy design, created in 1932 by celebrated British artist Rex Whistler, this beautiful furnishing fabric has been lovingly resurrected by Ann Jarvis, for Clovelly Silk.

Rex Whistler’s Clovelly Toile de Jouy

Celebrated artist, illustrator and muralist Rex Whistler (1905-1944), was a frequent visitor to Clovelly Court and was commissioned by Christine Hamlyn to develop his sketches into a textile design in a beautiful Toile de Jouy style. You can buy this beautiful fabric exclusively from the Clovelly Silk Shop.

Clovelly Pottery

Clovelly Pottery was first established in 1992 by the acclaimed potter, Clive Pearson.  It is now owned and run by the equally impressive Caroline Curtis. You can you can find a large collection of beautiful ceramics and even paint your own pot!

Opening hours

The pottery shop is open most of the year round;

April – October open every weekday 10am-5pm, and 10.30- 5pm on weekends

Winter months: Monday- Friday 9am-4pm (closed on the weekends)

Please Note: Winter Opening Times may vary. If you are travelling to visit the pottery, please check with the visitor centre that we are open to avoid disappointment.

The Donkey Shop (currently closed)

The Donkey Shop offers you a select range of quality giftware, much of it handcrafted in Clovelly. Browse our donkey-related souvenirs; vintage china candle holders, cake plate stands, and tea pots; rag wreaths; trees; pomanders; picture frames and other items of home décor; and tweed handbags, hats and caps.

You can collect your purchases at the Visitor Centre reception or have them posted to your home address.

General Stores

Don’t forget to visit Clovelly’s village shop, which is halfway down the cobbled street past the New Inn. It stocks a wide range of goods, including postcards, foods, confectionery, cold drinks, locally made ice cream, traditional Devon pasties and a superb selection of shells and other souvenirs. Exclusive to the General Stores is the popular ‘I Risked Clovelly’ tea towel.
